Maiolica
|
Work
is thrown and /or slab constructed using a well-vitrifying
light earthenware clay. After bisquing, the work is glazed
with a zircon-opacified maiolica glaze, followed by brush
application of layered coloured stains and oxides. These
are wet-and-dry-blended on-surface, and a sgraffito drawing
is lightly sketched through the colour layers to the glaze.
The work is glaze fired in oxidation to 1040°C.

Sgraffito
|
Work
is thrown and/or slab constructed using a well-vitrifying
light earthenware clay. Sgraffito imagery is scratched
directly into the clay, followed by a copper wash, and
layered vitreous engobes and stains are applied, both

to four times, with repeated colour and sgraffito interventions,
in oxidation to 1040°C.
